The
conference will be organised on March 26th at 5:00
pm.
Handing over know-how is giving for tomorrow gestures,
techniques, but also a memory which will make creations
take advantage on unrivalled added value and people
stand back with amazement.
We could deal with the subject by taking a look
of the situation in the different areas that may
be affected by the question.
•Higher education
How can the know-how be grasped in creative arts
education, and in particular fashion? Is there
a particular sensibility of the need to use recognised
skills in tomorrow’s designs? How do teachers
deal with the question?
•The companies
What do they do to keep, improve and pass on gestures
and skills that are at the heart of their activity?
What are the strategies to be developed when they
have to think about handing things on? To whom
should they be passed on? Is it necessary to look
for financial, industrial, institutional partners?
Should they be handed on abroad? In concrete terms,
how does one experience the handing over a company?
•The designers
How do creativity and design influence the carrying
on of know-how? Can know-how inspire design? How
are the designers informed, is it in their culture,
the fruit of an encounter, etc.? Where do the
two domains meet? Design + know-how = increased
appeal? What does a traditional technique bring
to the consumer?
•The institutions
and associations defending know-how
What is their role? Do they have a particular
policy on handing on know-how? Should the government
or the local collectivities be more enterprising?
What is the interest for the concerned companies
to regroup them selves under a type of association
or belong to a professional institution?
Combining leading edge technology + traditional
skills and expertise: there is no doubt this is
an approach that will promote the continuity of
the trades in the design products of tomorrow.
